PLANNING GETS UNDERWAY ON SUNSHINE COAST UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

The State Government is a step closer to delivering on its commitment of a new hospital for the Sunshine Coast with Conrad Gargett Architecture announced as the master planner for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Health Paul Lucas said Conrad Gargett will undertake detailed site master planning of the new 450-bed Sunshine Coast University Hospital and surrounding health campus, with master planning work now underway.

Mr Lucas said the $1.57 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital will deliver a range of new health services for the region, with completion expected in 2016.

“This project is a massive development, and the State Government is working to ensure we deliver the right mix of health services for people on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Lucas said.

Renowned consultancy firm Turner & Townsend will work alongside Conrad Gargett as lead technical advisors for the project.

The award winning global consultancy will lead all technical aspects of the hospital, ensuring a modern world class facility.

“This appointment further demonstrates our commitment to delivering this new, 450-bed tertiary hospital for the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Lucas said.

“We have always said we would deliver this hospital, and we are getting on with the job of making this a reality.”
