Early payment and back-pay of wage increases for core public servants
Today the Queensland Government announced all core Queensland Government departments and agency staff will receive early payments and back-pay for their 4.5 per cent wage increase.
Ministerial for Industrial Relations Cameron Dick said the increase, early payments and back-pay will be for all staff covered by the State Government Departments Certified Agreement (Core Agreement).
“This early payment includes back-pay to 1 August 2009 and will be processed no later than the pay period ending 18 December to ensure public servants receive a deserved boost to their pay packets before Christmas,” Mr Dick said.
“The Core Agreement cover 39 agencies and approximately 59,000 employees and 21 unions.
“This will be great news to the 59,000 Queenslanders who will have extra cash in their pay packets for the festive season,” Mr Dick said.
Mr Dick said the Government made the decision to make the early payment because it is possible that payment could be otherwise delayed until March next year.
“The public sector unions have agreed to this early payment,” Mr Dick said.
“This is a good outcome for Queensland's valued and hard working public servants and their families, in the lead up to the Christmas break,” Mr Dick
